In chapter 47 of the regulations, it states that wolves are considered predators outside of the trophy areas. What are the implications of this classification? Is it basically the same as a coyote in these areas? All of the trophy areas appear to be well west of the area where I am hunting, but I will double check.

I have an elk tag for WY area 111. It doesn't have a lot of wolves; I've made 2 trips for pronghorn, 2 trips for elk, and 2 prairie dog trips without seeing one or any evidence of one. But the possibility that I might see one still exists.

It means they are predators and can be shot on sight outside of the trophy/recovery area. Provided there's no lawsuits filed and injunctions ordered...

the most expensive bullet there is isn't worth a plug nickel if it don't go where its supposed to.

No need. Kind of a shame to shovel over one with a nice pelt.

Keep in mind the feds have not yet approved this. They are *supposed* to agree by fall. Check before you shoot.

Jaguar is correct.

I spoke with GW Andrew Countryman yesterday and the subject of wolves came up. As long as you are not in one of the 2 trophy areas AND the wolves are delisted then they are treated as predators. Therefore, no license is required.
