Pretty much any powder in the 4350, 4831 burning rate range.

IMR4831 has worked well for me.

mag or standard primers? Will the 28" create to much preasure before obtaining good velosity with those mentioned powders.

MagPro does 2920 for me 140 Partitions. 4350 and 4831sc would be solid too.

My 280 AI loves Vit N165, and all the above mentioned powders. I had a regular 280 before that and it was the same.

Enough already, just shoot it!

In a 30-06 size case, one of the 4350's is never a mistake.

A few years ago I had a h&r handi rifle in 280 rem
and it really liked RL-19.

4831 is my go to 280 powder!
3050fps average with 139 Horn flat base SP out of my 22" M-77.
I works even better with 150s.
4350 always showed pressure before reaching top velocity in my gun.

I chronographed many different combinations with 140gn bullets during load developement for my Ruger M77 .280.. The three powders which gave the highest velocity were....IMR4831,RL19 & RL22

Another good one for use with 140 grain bullets is Accurate 4064. I don't think it's the top dog on speed, but is very accurate with both 140 VLD's and 140 Sierra Pro Hunters around 2920FPS from a 24" barrel.

I shoot RL-22 with 140s in my 280s. I get 3025 FPS. Yesterday I tried H4350, I-4831 with some 150s and they shot real good too. A lot of powders work well in the 280.
