I just picked up a remington 243 for next to nothing. Its the kind with the ugly triangle barrel and the stupid muzzle brake. Im planning to run it through the fall and then change it to probably a fast twist 220 swift ackley or 22-250 ackley this spring. The rifle came with reloading dies so I was wondering what your favorite loads in your 243 is? Ive never owned one so this is virgin territory for me. The gun will probably be used for coyotes but may get thrown in the pickup for deer. Lets hear your favorites.

Get some 95 grain Ballistic Tips and some H4350. You'll hit gold pretty quick.

4064 is my powder of choice, unless for some reason I need warp 9 velocity... then I switch over to H 414...
4350 is great, but I have experienced better velocity and accuracy in the ones I have owned with H 414...for whatever reason...

I have a 243 that is very finicky. Tried all the usual suspects to no avail. Finally out of frustration, I grabbed some old IMR4320 that was sitting on the shelf. Bingo: 100gr Nosler Solid Bases into very small groups!

For coyotes? A 70 grain nbt with Varget shoots well for me. Nosler's data goes up to 42 grains, I believe. As always, start low and work up in your rifle.

My dad has killed a lot of nice bucks with 41.5 gr of IMR 4350 and the Nosler 95gr Ballistic Tip, this is a maximum load, so start with at least 39.5 gr and work up. Actually, here's all the components he uses:
Bullet - Nosler 95gr Ballistic Tip Brass - Remington Powder - 41.5 gr IMR 4350 Primer - Winchester WLR

With my Sako Forester 243 this will shoot one ragged holes with amazing consistency.
Lapua brass Win LR primers 95 nosler BT 41.5 grains of H4350 (seated out just off lands)
The 95 NBT is an outstanding do all bullet.

Nosler 95gr. BT, 42.0gr. RL22, Win. LR primers in Frontier brass. Prior to finding this load I used 41.0gr. IMR4350 with the Hornady 100gr. SP.
Could happily use either load for anything I'm going to hunt with my .243.
