Mine was also a Winchester 67 single-shot. I got mine in 1962, when I was 10. Sure wish I'da kept that rifle. Gotta find another someday. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" /> Virgil B.

Winchester 69. I bought it new for about $35 when I was 15 or 16. You couldn't shoot a rifle in our county except on ranges, so I started with shotguns. My dad wasn't a hunter or shooter, but my grandfather was. He died when I was 11, and left me my first gun, a Lefever single barrel .410.

My first one was a Lakefield Mark II, now a Savage Mark II. I saved up 3/4 of the cash by working on the farm and my Dad pitched in the other 1/4. For doing the chores everyday we got a piglet that we sold at the end of the year, which is how I came up with the $$. I was 7 when I got that sucker, but I had a pellet gun for 2 years prior. Second .22 was a Win 67 single shot from my Grandfather. I still have that one.

Remington single shot bolt action at age 8. My first hunt with it at that age I killed three grey squirrels. At 12 it was traded for a Marlin M39A. Boy was I in heaven then. We lived on a farm and the squirrel and rabbits took a beating from that little Marlin for many years. Still do...

Moved up to my father's Winchester 68.
Got my own Stevens Model 15 (?) at age 10.

I did keep mine. It is not the most valuable firearm I have by a long shot, but it would be the last one I would get rid of because it was gift from my dad.

In 1962 my dad gave me a Remington Nylon 66 when I was 7 years old. Killed lots of squirrels with it and shot a ton of ammo. The firing pin would wear down from time to time and had to take it out and lay it on an anvil then hit it a couple of times with a 3 pound hammer to lengthen it out a bit. Had to do this every couple thousand rounds but it was worth it.

Mine was a single shot lever action made by Ithaca. Don't remember the model number. That was 40 yrs ago when I was eight. Don't have it but my second was a 989 M2 Marlin clip fed auto that I still shoot today. Replaced firing pin 3-4 times and bolt assembly once. Thank goodness for GunParts

I got a winchester 94/22 when i was 6. I had to work for 80 dollars and my dad would pay the rest. When I earned the money we went down to the store an I had my choice of any .22 on the rack. I came home with that gun. I could only shoot off a rest for a year or so. but many squirrel died to that gun and more are to fall.

Mossberg Model 25S single shot that belonged to my grandfather from my moms side of the family. My grandpa died 11 years before I was born, and very few things are around to tie me to his existance. I did a crude stock refinish and reblue on this rifle when I was a kid, one of these days I need to redo it correctly and make it look right. I've swapped around and traded many many firearms over the years, this one is special and will be mine until I'm no longer here, then I guess my daughter can have it. Maybe I can give it to a grandson, if I don't suffer the fate my granddad did and die very young. I hold this old rifle in my hands and try to imagine my grandad shooting it out in the old back yard.

Jeff Those little Weaver V22 3X6 scopes are nice. I have one on one of my Ruger 10/22's and really like it a lot. I sent it in to the Weaver repair place in El Paso before mounting it and they did a bang up job restoring it and putting different cross-hairs in it.

A nice Win 67 or 68 can be found for around $150. Where else could you get so much pleasure for $150?

Remington 514A I still have it. My dad bought it for me in 1969 with the first money I earned on my paper route at age 13. It was the princely sum of $26 brand new at the PX.

My daughter with her first 22, Remington model 514 and her latest 10/22. My great grandpa gave it(model 514) to my dad when he was little for his help fixing an old car(sometime in the 60's my dad was around 10yrs old).My uncle carved a stock out of a 2x4 so little kids learn to shoot it, I taught my daughter when she was six. It seen alot of use but it still shoots. I bought one of those resetting steel targets, and our driveway is quickly becoming paved with brass.
