Good looking bull.

I think he's a little camera shy, keeps his backside to the camera. I hate driving 28 hours to elk hunt when I could just drive 6....Love to draw one of those tags also.

Nice bull.

Wisconsin is currently negotiating with Kentucky to obtain some elk to expand the present herd. That bull would be a great addition to the elk herd of Wisconsin. grin

Pretty spindly... very little mass, width, etc.

He obviously likes his feeder though, and that's some consolation...

+100 Have applied just about every year. Nada... Fortunately oldest daughter drew a cow tag this year. SIL finally connected with a friend of a friend to get access. The friend said a lot of the locals have hard feelings since VERY few locals are ever drawn.

Will post results ( hopefully pix!) after the daughter's hunt in December .

The last time I hunted elk was when I got drawn in eastern Ky and got a decent big bodied 5x6 in 2010. I was tickled to get 1 since I'm 100% disabled now and my guide was VERY tolerant of my disability and worked around it. I NEVER would have gotten it without him. His name is Sam Taylor and IMO he's the best guide in Ky. Tell him Neil sent you.

I understand this may not be a "record book" bull. But I GAY-RON-TEE you that I would drop the hammer on that puppy in a heart beat if I had a tag in my pocket. Kentucky, Colorado, or anywhere in between. I would not be ashamed to put my first elk tag on that guy...

I can see states realizing the revenue involved with hunting and trying to get good numbers of animals to charge a premium to hunt them. I know the Colorado woods are often overcrowded

Or if like it sounds.... you might draw a tag once in a liftime, pass him and tag soup.

Not my way of looking at it.

Not in to...

Well lets see I drew a tag so [bleep] it I better kill somthin'?

Reminds me of PA hunting mentality of years past... brown and down....

It's one thing to need to kill for sustainable reasons. It's another to kill cause you feel like I have a tag might as well use it.
