110 AB seemed to give a better initial "smack" than the 115g barnes and penetrate almost as well. Let's be honest any well placed 110 + g bullet in the thoracic cavity kills em dead be it whitetail mule deer antelope caribou blackbuck or axis in my humble experience GRF

i have been playing with my 25-06 for 3 years now, and have several good loads worked up...
the most accurate hunting load i have is the 100 ballistic tip and h4350. it's speed is not what i'd hoped for but finely accurate.
the 100 nosler partition and h4831 or rl22 is a good load, with decent speed and fair accuracy.
the 100 tsx and rl22 had fair accuracy but disappointing speed...
the 100 hornady and 7828 simply cooks along at 3300+ from my 23" barrel and is superbly accurate... and it hits to the same 200 yd POI as my 75gr vmax load...
to date, the biggest thing i have taken with it is coyotes... a brother in law did use it to fill an antlerless tag at his home, and he used the 75 vmax load which dropped the big doe where she stood and gave full pen, going in one set of slats and out the other...

Nothing killed with my 25-06 yet but similar results at the range. R22 gave me only fair accuracy and disappointing speed with 115-117s. 100 BT and H4350 is very accurate, running about 3225 fps. I will use that load this year and plans are to work with H4831 to try and get a little more speed with comparable accuracy. I'll probably stick with 100bt unless they give me some grief, as they are wicked accurate in the last couple rifles I have had.

Looks like theres lots of good options, and most seem to work. I appreciate the input.

Another good bullet is the 120gr Speer Grandslam, if you can get them to shoot.

Near or far, big or small, the 100gr TTSX simply works, and works very well. The 100gr SGK also works reasonably well if the bullet isn't stressed at close range too much, and the 110AB works pretty good, too, from what I've seen. No bad choices here, but for a one-load universal killing rifle, I'd go 100TTSX, and not look back.

I'd also consider the 100gr E-Tip. It's worked well for us on deer, hogs, and a toothy varmint every now and then. Good BC on that bullet.
Now with even more aplomb

Another vote for the 120 gr Deep Curls. Cheap, accurate for me, and they've worked well on all of the deer and hogs I've shot. I havn't put one in a big boar yet, but I've yet to recover one.

Over the years I had the best luck with 115gr Nosler partitions. But then I was only shooting a 257 Roberts. I can tell you a antelope can be penatrated from one end to the other with one of the partitions. All my side shoots have been pass thru,s.

I am a fan of the 100 gr. TSXs. They work great out of my #1 and I would use them on anything from yotes to elk.

My rifle is a '.25-06 Short' (AKA .257 Roberts). The loads I use are +P with +P brass and it give up very little to most .25-06 loads - little enough that I don't feel any particular need for a .25-06.
The Roberts likes 120g A-Frames better than Partitions and Partitions better than Grand Slams. When hunting during combined deer and elk season the A-Frames are my choice.
During antelope season it gets 100g TTSX or 110g AccuBond. Both work very well. The AccuBonds have a higher BC and better ballistics at long range. Both are very accurate.

No, I'm not a Ruger bigot - just an unabashed fan of their revolvers, M77's and #1's.
A good .30-06 is a 99% solution.

One more note, the 115g TSX are perhaps the most accurate bullet in that rifle, a Ruger with a 1-10 twist. The problem is I just can't bring myself to use them on game due to a bad experience with 7mm XLCs and reports of the TSX not expanding. Everything we've shot with TTSX or MRX has shown evidence of very rapid expansion which is why I use them in multiple rifles.

Try a few different bullets.
The rifle will tell you what to use.
I've shot quite a few pigs and deer with Partitions, AB's and can tell you they work well, near or far...good/bad angles...and handle bone well.
From what I've read here, it sounds like the TTSX would be another bullet that would handle worst case scenarios well.
All bullets work well when everything is perfect, not all will when things aren't.

Hmmm, some good answers here. I've been shooting my 25-06[Ruger MkII]for 12 years. For me, its been either Hornady120HP or 115TSX. Powder for both is H4831sc @ 50.5gr, Win cases. These two loads work very well out of MY rifle. Good luck.
