Just looking to see if anyone has this combination of rifle and cartridge and to see what your results were.

The 6.5x55 is a kissing cousin of the Creed. I have those and they penetrate like mad and kill deer dead. Based on that experience I wouldn't hesitate to get a Creed if you want one.

I think either of the 6.5s mentioned would be sweet in a 1A or 1RSI

You can get the 6.5 Creedmoor and the 6.5x55 in the 1A, but neither one has been made in the No.1 RSI yet! The Creedmoor was cataloged and the 6.5x55 was a Lipsey's Exclusive.

Not really the question you asked, but I have a 1A in 6.5x55 that I really like. Accurate, light, short and handy. It is throated long and bullets can be seated out, stay in the case, and still touch the lands with a 120. I have not tried a 100 with it.
If the Creedmoor had come out first I would have bought it. Given a choice between the Creedmoor and 6.5x55? I'd go for the 6.5x55.
I have used a 260 a lot (not in a #1)and it works for me. I believe there is little, if any, real difference in the three, especially in a #1.
So pick one, be happy.
I hope that helps.

There is no accounting for taste.
Experience is a great thing as long as one survives it.
Generally, there ain't a lot that separates the two however, Barely making it is a whole lot more satisfying than barely not making it.

Have 1A in 6.5 Creedmoor. Really like the way the rifle carries, shoots 120 Barnes 2 1/2"@ 200 yds. I like the superperformance powder for @ 2900 FPS with the 120 Barnes.
Also seems to like 100 grain partitions. Does not like 130 gn accubonds, or berger, but that could just be my rifle.
Hornady brass only getting 5 loadings before the primer pockets are too loose to reload.
Have not shot any game with it. figure it will work fine for anything a .270 works for.
I like the cartridge, wanting to get a Savage predator hunter in the same caliber as they make it in left hand.
