I am wondering what .222 remington tsx bullet you guys would sling at a deer or a decent sized bear say a 350 pounder. The .222 is your only gun and the bear would be quite rare but you could happen on one when hunting deer. The 53 grain tsx is the biggest one that would probably stabilize in the 1-14 twist but the 50 grainer might shoot better. What do you guys think? Gun has a 24 inch barrel not that it should matter much.

Either of those would probably work, as might, likely, the Winchester 64 PowerPoint.

Barnes has the 50 grain ttsx listed as needing a 1-12 twist...This confuses me becuase my last .222 liked the 53 grain tsx even though barnes said that that bullet needed a 1-12 twist rate as well.

Barnes is conservative in their estimations, so as not to alienate some of their clientele...

that makes sense. In your opinion would you go with the 45 or the 50?

The 45 grainer is a sure bet in the deuce, it WILL stabilize and achieve more velocity, and as always with monometals, speed is your freind. I have seen it used on biggish ( 200 lb ) deer with impressive effect. No qualms about it...

Just get another gun. OK
These topics of how tiny a cartridge one can use are not good for hunting or guns.
The tiny rounds are not sporting or even legal.
All guns should be locked up when not in use!

That cinches it! The contra-indicator has checked in! If Don says the .222 won't work on deer....take yours, stuff some Barnes in it and go fill an ark!

Never tried the 60NPT 60 Horn SP did ok, but 45 TSX would be my pick.
