What are the best solvents for removing powder, carbon, plastic wad build up, etc. : i.e. is there a solvent that can do it all ? I have been using Slip 2000 and a brush, patches. Any favorite ? Jim

Can't say what's the best solvent but the "Tornado Brush" seems to help the solvents I've used work better than they used to. After cleaning with "Shooter's Choice" solvent and the "Tornado Brush I don't see any signs of powder, lead or plastic fouling. After cleaning I run a patch with EEZOX through the barrel and leave it wet. That seems to cut down on fouling.

Shooters Choice Choke and Bore cleaner for commercial products. I mixed about 2 gallons of Ed's Red and that's about all I use now. The acetone version melts the plastic buildup post haste just can't get it around your wood. I clean my barrels separately so I don't have any issues.

Doubt there is a best, a lot of products work well.
I've used Ed's Red for a few years now as a nitro solvent and it does just fine. Leaves enough oil for lubrication and rust protection though I use a grease (RIG) for storage. Haven't had very good results removing more than light wad fouling. Acetone does not dissolve polyethylene and the like though it softens it a bit and creeps between the metal and the fouling when it can. For heavy fouling (club trap guns) I use Brownell's plastic wad solvent. Nasty stuff. I use RIG for protecting exterior metal surfaces, old tech but it just works.

Seafoam Deep Creep works wonders.
