Maybe I missed it, but who made your octagon barrel? Looks sharp.

I like the octagon. I guess it would do similar as a fluted for meat dissipation and weight reduction. But...look cooler doing it!

I've got a Brown precision "High Country" built for me by Chet Brmwn back in 1978 with a kevlar stock, and a Shilen 20" barrel in .284 Winchester. It is all Hard Chromed by Armaloy in Texas for Chet, in a beautiful matt pearl gray color, and weighs in right at 6 lbs. with a compact 4X Leupold scope mounted in Conetrol rings and base. It is unblemished after all these years and will still shoot 3/4 minute of angle three shot groups with proper handloads. Still my favorite rifle! Your Brown precision rifle is a beauty too!

Sorry I missed your question, SU. No idea who made it. I need to try the oxpho blue in a spot on the crown to see if it's stainless. Brown did a nice job.

I did take it out. Didn't have time to shoot a lot of groups. Last 2 shots after sighting in were about 3/4" apart at 100 with the wide duplex 6x42. I thought that was pretty good. That with 130 TSX's. Next 4 shots were 4 for 4 shooting at little (about 2" diameter) rocks perched on big rocks from 100 to about 120 yards. I know that's very technical, so PM me if anybody needs a diagram or chart. laugh

I think it can shoot better than I'm capable. It was a pleasure to shoot.

I'd love to see a pic of yours, olhip. If you're not capable, please PM me for an email addy and you can email a few to me and I'll post them. I really want to see it to compare. I'm not sure what era mine is from, but it's not very recent.
