BMT, I thought snipe were sea birds?? and Wampus Cats have been extinct for almost 100 years. The last one was killed by my Uncle in HumpRidge Tenn. about 1960. He told us all about the hunt when we were kids.. He shot it late one July night when it was hunting it's favorite prey.. Treefrogs.
Everyone that is saying its a yote, wolf, fox or dog, take a closer look at those tracks. When was the last time you saw a K-9 of any sort register 5 toes?
My money is on an otter. Look for little piles of fish scales around the area. These are otter "toilets" and would help confirm that you have otters there. Five toes showing is pretty strong evidence, though.
