They are my favorite sheep hunting pant. In fact, that's all I've worn the last three sheep hunts. They are the perfect fit and weight. The black also dries nicely in the sun.

How do they compare to the Mammut Champ pant, I wonder?

KCBighorn...I don't have the pants in specific, but have lots of REI gear. As I'm sure you know, REI's guarantee/return policy in simply THE BEST. Never any issues or questions. I've returned items that I ruined, and they have taken them back with 100% refund/credit.
Sorry to be long winded...but if these are what you are looking for, give them a shot - you can't miss with REI.

I have some as well. Comfortable, quiet, and dry quickly.

I was at REI today so tried these on just because you mentioned them. They are very stretchy and very comfortable. I probably would have bought them if they had them in Khaki and if I didn't have 4 pair of similar pants from Sitka. If it helps any, I'm typically a 36x32 in jeans and the 36 in these were pretty tight and tight in the thighs too. The inseam seemed to be pretty close, maybe 1/2 inch short. The 38x32 fit perfect. I'm 5'9 and 218.
