There was some question about whether or not the new Ruger 50th Anniversary Flattop in 44 Mag. would be built on the same frame as the current Flattop in 357 Mag. I wondered if they were (would be) built on the same frame as the New Vacquero. Some posters thought that the 44 would be built on a larger frame.

To clear up any confusion, I'll quote from the new 2006 Ruger catalog:

"Smaller, original-size 'XR-3' style grip frame with checkered 'hard rubber' grip panels that feature original-style black medallions."

This is the same frame that the current 357 Flattop is built on and also the same one the New Vacquero utilizes-the pre-1962 XR-3.

Boys it looks like this will be a winner. I have my order in and am second in line at my local dealer's-right behind the dealer himself! When these finally show up on the shelves they won't last.
