just wondering if anyone has any experience with the hornady 225 ftx leverevolution ammo on deer? shooting a 44 mag handi and wondering if these will hold up at the higher rifle velocity.

The .44 magnum Handi rifle is a great deer rifle. You don't have to load it to the max.It will do fine at normal velocities.

The more I listen,the more I hear....and vice versa.

45/70,it's almost a religion.

If you have to take a second shot then you probably shouldn't have taken the first shot.

I shoot the Hornady 240gr XTP out of my Ruger 77/44. Ballistics on the 240 are a bit better out past 75 yards with the bigger slug. Great for the hardwood bottoms around here. Light, short and quick to point.

I've just about settled on a 335 gr hard cast bullet with a copper gas check that brings the weight up to about 355 gr. I'm shooting these sub-sonic with a suppressor, getting great penetration, and I think they would be very good at higher velocities as well.

I load the Speer 270 grain bullet for my 44 MAG carbine. Just a plain vanilla loading; not hot at all. The animals don't get away. My shots rarely exceed 80 yards.
