I've seen a 165 Sierra Gameking do that on a mule deer at about 225 yards out of an '06 before.

The closest I've seen to anything like that before was a 140-grain Ballistic Tip from a 7mm STW on a pronghorn--but even that didn't some close....

I don't want this to turn into a sst bashing thread. I've killed quite a few deer with them with this exact caliber and bullet combo. Admittedly I've never spined one like that. The entry (if you can call it that) was about 2 inches from very top of the antelope's back. Unbelievable for me if I hadn't seen it for myself.

JG,
Yeah, a hole like that had to involve some bone fragments and not just bullet.

I've seen things like that before but its usually on grey fox or bobcats!
A hunter gets his deer. A good hunter can make long shots. A great hunter likes it up close and personal!

Did someone shoot that animal with an RPG they brought home from Iraq?

I consider that a waste of a tag. Antelope are barely bigger than full-size dog, so the amount of meat you get is already limited. That front shoulder is destroyed.

Lemme guess, it at least dropped him in his tracks?
Anyway, from my tests and from what I've seen on the net, I'm pretty well convinced those are much more "explosive" than Ballistic Tips. Was that what you were going for? Or were you expecting something else? And, out of curiosity, what did it actually hit on the on and off sides?

Despite what you hear on the internet, from what I have seen Nosler BT's are about the toughest cup and core bullet made.

Makes me wonder why when hornady came out with the super performance ammo they loaded it with the SST and not the IB. I'd venture to say that antelope was DRT, but you're left with some bloody stew meat!

Weird things happen sometimes. I had almost the exact thing happen to a coyote I shot with a .223 55gr. FMJ! The bullet entered the front of the neck and blew out between the shoulder blades.

That's extremely similar performance to what I got with Nosler BT's out of my 270 on Wisconsin Whitetail's!, one was a shoulder shot and the other was a spine shot, looked just like that! Plastic tipped bullets are for shooting things you have no intention of eating.
