I would think the lawn is too dry for the grubs - and hard. But I sure don't have any better idea. They were back again last night and that one part of the lawn is starting to look like a herd of bad golfers went on a rampage.

I would suggest watching "Caddyshack" before deciding on the best way to proceed with your lawn management plan.

How well do you like your lawn? I'm a big proponent of excessive amounts of petroleum poured down the holes and a match thrown it.

If you get lucky, the first hole will have a critter in it and he will run out of the hole with his tail on fire. This of course will have a some squealing sounds with it, some from the wife but mostly from the critter. When he runs into the next hole (tail still on fire) it will set off a chain reaciton of sizzling critters and really, a pretty cool volcano-like show of flame from various spots in your yard.

Just a suggestion.

Add that into the mix and the possibilities are endless.

tarp it and put vegetable oil all over it, that will really mess with them.

Tom, I don't give a damn about my lawn. for years, I rarely cut it and when I did, I used a bushhog on my tractor. But there are no holes here. Just divots. Sorry but your firebug fantasy isn't going to work here.

The tarp and oil would definitely mess with them - and with my dogs, which would then mess the house, which would mess with my wife, which would definitely mess me up but good.

I'll just let them do their thing. It sure is strange however.

an old fish in a live trap followed by a .22 short to the noggin will solve the problem but wont be nearly as entertaining as the veggie oiled tarp. that Ryan....always thinkin'!

The live trap is a good start. Then you crank up a generator and clamp 220V to the trap, 480V is even better if the generator is big enough. Worked great on rats over in Nam.

Just got a call from one of my hunting partners. He was going to go back into camp and set up a new tree stand. Beavers have our road flooded out. I'm meeting him tomorrow to see what we can do. Appears they built part of their dam right on the road.

Been at least 5 years since we had a problem and now the little Bast###ds are back.

I've livetrapped a good many coons - they have been the bane of my existence for a long time. But when they run in packs like this, you catch one. The others stand around and get educated.

So, then you can get another with a leg hold (and hopefully not my dog). And the rest get educated.

Anyway, I don't really care one way or the other about what they are doing, I just want to understand what it is. Might go digging in my yard myself tonight.

Wish we had water for beavers to dam. My river is just about dry.

Since it has snowballed to this level of seriousness, I see no reason to hold back on manpower or firepower.

We will need gps coordinates & some arial photos of the affected area to properly plan this attack.

I am compiling an arsenal of possible destructive devices that we can use for this operation.

Should we give it a name? "Operation _________"

Hard do go wrong with fireball.

Although, "beaver plow" has a nice ring to it....

I'm a little concerned about giving out coordinates but somewhere just South of Story City, on the river is more or less the area. My two neighbors, however, would GREATLY appreciate it if could resist carpet bombing and or general cover fire for effect.

Personally, if I was going to do the search and destroy thing, I'd just tape a Surefire light to my Scott 10 bore, damascus double gun and put half a pound of #4 lead and maybe 300 grs of 1.5fg down range on them.
