Well I did it guys. Friday was my last day. I have the option to go back if I desire. We will see waht the next day brings.

Wish me luck!

Whelen.

15 months, but who's counting <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />?

Could go the first of March, but decided to give it another year.

On the other hand, two bad days in a row, and who knows <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />?

Congratulations...I've seldom met anyone who regretted retiring...enjoy <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />.

34 months for me but if I don't find a new job with healthcare it'll be 8 more years. At 60 I can get the military's healthcare since I stayed for 20 years in the National Guard. Good luck Whelenman. kwg

Nope...was planning to retire and mooch off you <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />. Could have been out every week...but there's good reasons for my decision <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />. Guess I'll have to bug you on weekends <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />.

Whelenman...

Congratulations on retiring. In a couple, I hope to join ya.

By the way, I was a guest several times in Col. Whelen's house.

Congratulations, you won't believe how fast time will fly! I've been retired for 8 years now. I go to the southwest every winter. A lot of people from MI here, think about becoming a snowbird!
The only think that bothers me about being retired " Is that Conservatives look on as you as being on some type of welfare!" When you get on SS it is even worse! You are a burdon on society & business, therefore you should take cuts on your health insurance & other benefits!! But hey that's only my option! You will love retirement! Shut off the TV & do something!!

Congrats on your retirement. Take one day at a time but keep busy. Make plans and set some realistic goals--like hunting trips with your Whelen <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" />

I've got six years in and wouldn't think of going back to work.

Enjoy.

I did it at 51 in '91 after the VA said I was 100% Disabled and haven't looked back since have enjoyed every minute of it and n ow I can't even think how I found time to go to work as I'm so busy with my various projects.

My Brother did the same thing in '99 at the age of 57 after 27 years in the Navy and another 10-15 years Navy Civil Service retiring at NAS Pax River, selling his home at Hollywood,MD and moved lock, stock and barrel out here about 3/10's of a mile from me and hasn't looked back either. He and his bride of Forty years bought an Safari Trek and are very busy spending their two boy's inheritance enjoying life to the fullest.
