The America's Dirtiest Cities List is part of the magazine's "America's Favorite Cities" survey, in which readers rank 35 metropolitan areas in categories including safety, culture and dining. Visitors to Phoenix/Scottsdale ranked the city pretty low in diversity, number of intelligent people (ouch), singles scene, theater and architecture. Visitors did say that Phoenix/Scottsdale was one of the top-10 places to visit during Christmas, New Year's and Valentine's Day. Fourth of July? Not so much. Locals ranked the area low in diversity, theater and architecture. The magazine notes: "It may even be affecting the local self-esteem: The city also ranked in last place for its sense of civic pride." The good news: Residents consider Phoenix/Scottsdale to be one of the country's top-10 places for home decor and design stores.

Hmmm Scottsadale is known worldwide as a resort town, and playground of the wealthy. Ever watch the Barret Jackson auto auctions from Scottsdale? That is one of several major international collector car auctions that generate 100's of millions dollars. The valley is home to Arizona State University one of the largest Universities in the west. We have a pretty famous Center for the Arts... not to mention Frank Lloyd Wrights masterpiece the Gammage AuditoriumThe Phoenix suburb of Gilbert is consistantly voted as one the most desirable/best cities to live in the nation, and has been ranked #1 mutliple times. Heck event the town I live in has been voted as as all American City. Representing the best our country has to offer. Pretty funny your new found interest in Arizona. You might want to get a little more informed.
