I recently bought a Remington model 788 in .223 and it had a .222 magazine in it instead of a .223 mag. Anyone need the .222? Or have a .223 available for sale or trade? Can't find one on gun broker. Thanks!

Dimensionally they are the same. I use the two interchangeably.

tdd is correct, either will work. I actually have a 223 with a line through it, then it is re-stamped 222 - both stamps look like factory. Try your 223s in it, I think you'll like it.

Thanks! I tried to jam one in there today at the range and couldn't get it to work - just pulled it out again and sure enough, they go in like butter. They just slide in a little different than my .22-250 in 788 that I'm used to.
