Yes, I do believe that the costs for a large agency like the Game and Fish could be rising that much as it seems like they are having financial troubles.

Well, I am glad that is going to stop you from hunting out here in the west. It will open up the opportunity for somebody who would actually enjoy it without trying to quantify the price.

And maybe leave a license for someone that enjoys the country and the meat

It is certainly Wyoming's right to raise fees to whatever they like. My home state has done the same, especially with regards to gouging the non-residents.

As hunters, we all lose when this happens. For every additional dollar it costs to hunt, there is a percentage of people that will simply choose not to do so.

As a percentage of participation, hunters numbers in Idaho have continued to decline for many years. I'd wager it's that way across the nation. Each lost hunter moves us closer to elimination of hunting. If you believe otherwise, you are fooling yourself.

They are going to be raising the prices....

If they raise NR prices(as is their right)and I can afford it I'll put in for the antelope draw.If I can't afford it I'll hunt at home.Either way I'm not going to cry about it.I'm on a fixed income so it could be a little tough but I'm sure I can cut somewhere or sell a rifle if I have to.It all depends on how badly you want to go,and how much it means to you. Dave is the man with a brain. For a country that has $16 trillion dollars of debt(and growing) how much longer will it be able to subsidize western resident hunters with "free" land to hunt on? How many non-residents will give a hoot when the BLM starts auctioning off it's land? I'll bet they'll support it because it will eliminate competition from the resident commies who think it's their "right" to get cheap permits and free land to hunt on. I find it hilarious how many here decry government handouts in one thread and then laugh at non-residents who don't get to suck the government teat like they do.

BLM is never going to auction off land any more than the Forest Service is, you can dream, but it ain't gonna happen. Look into the North American Model of Game Management, you might begin to see just how wrong things are in TX.

For the mighty sum of $225 you can buy a buck tag over the counter and doe tags for $7 each (as many as you want).

Of course the people of this state aren't jealous of out of state hunters.

Still not seeing it are you? Nothing to do with jealousy, everything to do with residents getting first shot at the resource and funding the dept. and programs that continue to make this place "the last best place".

Yes, I'd prefer it if every state had as much public land as Montana does but that isn't reality for Texas and most states. When the Chinese stop lending the US money you'll see our government do many things that you think "ain't gonna happen".

The North American Model of Game Management says wildlife is held in trust meaning that it's ownerless property managed for for the benefit of everyone - not just land owners or state residents. I agree things are screwed up in Texas but I'll also say that things are screwed up in Montana.

Wyoming has been very generous with non-residents by offering equal opportunity for tags(unlike my home state of New Mexico) and has offered very reasonably priced doe tags.

When I started driving gas was 25.9 cents/gal,now it's $4.00 /gal In the fall of 1975 I traded my old 69 GMC off for a 1976 GMC K1500 that retailed for $6638 and in the spring of 1979 I ordered out a Ford F-150 4wd the way I wanted it $9734 retail and I was making $20,000 a year.Now a new truck like that costs over 40,000 yet my wages didn't double.When is enuf ,enuf? I don't know myself but got the feeling we haven't seen anything yet. If you can afford to go ,go and don't bitch about it. Pretty soon it will be high enough you will swear and decide not to spend the money cause its to much for you to afford. That is the way life and economics have been in my 57 years. I don't understand why you think it should be any different for you. You need to look in the mirror real hard at yourself and decide if you are an American or some kind of a Socialist turd like we have in the Whitehouse.
