are you guys getting at 50 yards with your 22 LR rifles with run of the mill ammo? Please tell which ammo and model of rifle.

Another one for CCI SV. It's the only reasonably priced ammo I can find that shoots consistently across my .22's and is accurate to begin with.
If your going to spend much more than $25 per 500 rounds, might as well upgrade to a .17HM2 or .17HMR and get way more accuracy for the same price.
Oh, and out of my CZ 452's shooting CCI SV I get groups about the size of a quarter @ 40 yards.

Montanabadger: The latest "quality" 22 rimfire Rifle I brought on line is a Ruger 77/22 VBZ (target weight heavy barrel). I tested 6 brands of ammunition in it using a Leupold 6.5x20 EFR scope for the testing. The groups (all 5 shots at 50 yards) measured from .695" down to .201"! All the munitions I tested were of the hollow-point Hunting type (run of the mill stuff?). I settled on the somewhat pricey Winchester (run of the mill?) Super-X 40 grainers ($31.00 per 500). This same ammo when used in my Remington 40X has produced groups (5 shots) at 100 yards as small as .712". That is GOOD accuracy out at that range for "run of the mill" Hunting type ammo. Oh, and out of my CZ 452's shooting CCI SV I get groups about the size of a quarter @ 40 yards. Cheap Federal at my Walmart is $19.99 for 550rds now. CCI Standard at $25-30 per brick is a steal for the accuracy it gives. Eley Target, Wolf,SK Standard Plus or RWS match target runs about $60-65 per brick of 500rds and is some improvement on CCI Standard, though not really twice as good as the price would indicate. .17HMR you'd be lucky to get 500rds for $100. Even cheap .22Mag is still $80-90 per brick.

in my rem 582 with a bushnell sportsman 3-9x40 i get dime sized 5 shot groups with federal champion at 40 yards in my backyard range with the occasional flyer. with my 581 i get quarter sized with a flyer or two but the scope is an old 3/4 redfield. i will be changing it out to a better one this fall sometime and i know it will outshoot the 582 because it has a better trigger. now, with my 77/22 with afermarket trigger and bushnell elite 4200 3-9x40 i get dime sized groups with cci mini mag hp's all day long. its quite boring and predictable. federals are not as tight with that gun however.

I've kept a 1" group at 100yards, and 4.5" groups at 200 yards (w/ witnesss) from my left hand CCZ 452 american shoot federal gold match ammo.
At the time i had a simmon 44mag scope 6.5-20x44mm on it too.
