Love the new camp design. I think the Est.2007 would be better also. Can't wait!!

We were in the Dr. office this morning and the nurse had to ask about dad's Chickenbuck tattoo. He told her the story of Joey and how it all came about. She thought that was pretty cool.

I am out of order until further notice. My "stupid people" filter needs cleaning and my "give a damn" batteries have run out.

Mrs. ND would hang me if I were to send ND links to track machines for sale, so I won't do that.....

Skane is working with the character drawings for chickenbuck, flying bear and swamp squid. He's got some good ideas, plus he's got the skill and the software to put something together for us.

Smokes bad down here all kinds of critters are coming into town, deer, bear, coyotes, dang fire is 100 miles away moving east to northeast. Estimated at 8 miles wide and 30,000 some acres.

Heads up chickenbuckers...

Bemidji, looks like the storm is going to hook north of the fire. Not sure where Dave's camp is but it can't be to far from there.

google the "Minnie wildfire" near fourtown MN.

(I'm assuming this is the one)

We're still about 30 miles from it. Fingers crossed, rain is on the way, snow too.

Does not sound good but winds up there look to be from the north and shifting to the East tonight. That would blow the fire back on itself and at least slow it down. One can hope anyway.

That's it...sounds like the wind is kicking the guys rear ends and their looking to bring in the guard to help out. Problem is accessing portions of the fire thru the bog and blow down.

No rain here. Beautiful fall day. Low humidity, high blue skies, temps in the tolerable range. Snow would be nice...on Nov. 2nd.

It is a $600 dollar fine here right now for anyone seen flicking a cigarette out the window.

Water sources are gone or severly shrunk.

Deer are running all over the place where we wouldn't see them for at least another month.

Gonna get bad if we don't get something going up here soon. Folks in town won't even have a fire pit going and those that do have buckets and hoses ready.

Hopefully this winter will refill us but lots of people are thinking it will just be cold and little snow.

Been a long time since we've dared have a campfire out at deer camp. Labor day weekend was the last time for us.

I turned the sprinkler on last night about dark and forgot to shut it off, so it ran all night. By the time I got home this evening you couldn't even tell it had run at all. This is as dry as I ever remember seeing it.

The equipment, manpower, & desire is available to fight these fires in whatever conditions that might be encountered. The problem is when the fires get too big. There are too many "chiefs" in charge and politics get involved. I saw a lot of valuable equipment and talented people get turned away because of it. That is a discussion for a different thread tho.

The amount of volunteers and donated supplies has been nothing short of amazing. It's too bad that it takes a disaster such as this to bring out the good in people.

We are going to need a disaster around here to "prevent disasters" apparently. We've had county-wide burn bans in place in my part of Iowa since July and yet my neighbor to the south is, right now, burning his garbage and yard trash. Stinks like hell, so it's impossible to not notice but apparently burn bans are not enforced around here. We need to have someone's house burned down to change attitudes around here. Hope it's not mine.
