Keep buying them. It gives Nosler a market for second rate product and makes first rate product cheaper for me.

The deal is they cost less than firsts and are just as good but with cosmetic flaws.

I buy Nosler seconds, the thing that makes them seconds vary. I have some that have a knurl (crimp groove) where the 1st's wouldn't. Others have a very slight crimp mark, I seen other where the ogive was shaped different from the 1st's.

Seconds are great!! I buy them all the time. Also keep an eye out for the "over run" bullets too....
I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I seen other where the ogive was shaped different from the 1st's. That's been my experience as well. I often find that my Redding Comp Seating dies don't produce as consistent an OAL with the 2nds as they do the with the 1sts, and the ogives may vary some from bag to bag. Still, I buy and use a lot of the 2nds. Oh, and the color of the plastic tips can be different that the ones you'd expect on the 1sts. A minor detail.

I check the SPS every day for more 160 gr Accubonds in 7MM. Shoots 3/8 " groups @ 100 yards and that was good enuf to kill my Alaskan black bear last spring. I shoot a lot of the seconds and love them. Never had a problem with them.

Don't buy them, they just don't fly straight But really generally a hard to beat deal.

most of the ones I have purchased have been overstock, not really seconds.

I have bought many 2nd's in Partitian and they shoot as well as firsts. On most I have been unable to determine what made them seconds. The only problem I have is they very seldom have the caliber and weights I want.

Frankly, since I live in Oregon and travel thru Bend occasionally, it's all the Nosler's I shoot. Please don't buy any, I need some 6mm Partitions! Regards, Woody

One of the rifles I count on for longer shots is a .270 WSM Kimber Montana.
I checked it's zero, that it was sighted in, on 10-11-12.
It put two shots into 0.80" at 200 yds with vertical dispersion.
The group was about 1.25" high at 200 y. which is where I want it and an inch to the left.
When I was loading some ammo for the old .264 WM that I have had for a long time I noticed some 120 gr Nosler seconds in a bag near it's stuff.
I checked and don't have any seconds for the .270 WSM. Glad I don't. I want that first shot to hit on.
I looked at one bullet from the .264" bag and it's ogive was miss-formed a little near the me-plat. Who need's that?

Nosler 2nds are of the same quality as their regular bullets, they just didn't pass cosmetic inspection, meaning they're not as pretty as 1sts.

woodsonchris,
My uncle used to work there when John Nosler ran the plant. Occasionally John would want to change to a different bullet. He would put his hand down on the conveyor and say, "Everything from here back is a second. No need to inspect them, just pack them."
I purchased many, many boxes of them. In all those I found six that had something wrong with them.
