Hello all,
I am wondering which brass is best for fireforming to make 223AI if it matters? I have been told Lapua brass is the best but wanted opinions.
Thank you,
ddj

I love Lapua brass..........but the biggest question is what are the dimensions of your gunsmith's reamer ???????
Win. and Lapua brass have different dimentions check it out.

I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I feel Lapua is the best. Obviously you spent some serious money on the rifle. Why be cheap with the brass? QM

Why waste money?? Unless you are made of it or it grows on trees for you...Carry on...

In my experience Lapua is the best and definitely the hardest.
The bulk stuff from brassmanbrass or such can work very well, BUT!!, if you buy the bulk once-fired stuff, don't forget those are mostly fired through semi's and such. They will very likely have been fired in chambers larger than the snug custom chamber in your rifle.
Result? Don't be astonished if the bulk stuff won't chamber in your custom chamber, even if you use a small base sizer. It's too wide back near the base, and a sizing die doesn't do much back there, even a 38Spl/357 die. Been there.
Anybody who seriously concerns themselves with the adequacy of a Big 7mm for anything we hunt here short of brown bear, is a dufus. They are mostly making shidt up. Crunch! Nite-nite!

Yeah, keep us posted. But ANY brass that is good and has a good anneal should work.
Up hills slow, Down hills fast Tonnage first and Safety last.
