I just bought a new Leupy 4x28 and it needs a friend. I'm thinking 45 Colt as a partner to my Rossi 92 in 454 (ghost ring, not scoped). My regular woods carry pistol is a 4" Tracker .44, and I'm looking for a good hunting revolver. I'm leaning toward the Bisley - I figure there's no going wrong with the Bisley. I'm really just posting to get opinions and ideas about what other good options might be out there. And, yes, I do reload. Thanks.

Try the Ruger Bisley Super Blackhawk Hunter model. I've got All 3 calibers in .41mag, 44mag, & 45lc. They will all put 5 rounds in under 3" @ 100yds using Leupold 4X shot off a sandbag. Mine all pretty much shoot one ragged hole at 50 yards.

The Bisley Grip & ribbed barrel really soak up recoil too, if you want to shoot heavy loads. Also, comes with factory Ruger rings. I see them on Gunbroker from time to time at reasonable prices.

I've been eyeing the Bisley Hunter guns for a couple of years now. I finally broke down and got a Freedom Arms instead. Wild hair in a moment of weakness. I don't even shoot a handgun that well, especially a 454.
I still think I may need one. A .22 would be just right.
I know what you mean about a stray scope lying around unattended... I bought several rifles to keep those loose scopes occupied, until one day I got this great idea that it made more sense to sell the scopes than buy more guns, so I sold a couple Zeiss scopes. But I didn't stop buying guns. Now I have spent more money replacing two good scopes with two more good scopes. I guess it is less expensive to buy more guns in the long run.

I've got a few different guns that would work. I got a bisley convertible 45 colt/45 acp. Very nice shooter. They are on GB often and can be had for $500-550. Or you can just jump to the best and buy a freedom. This one is a 475 linebaugh.

Gunchamp, that is a fine looking pistol.

FNG, I just did the same thing with a scope, though I parked a rifle under it. I had a Leupold FX-II 2.5X20 ultralight that ended up strapping on a Ruger 77/44.

Ruger doesn't have the Bisley Hunter in 45 listed on their website. Wondering if they were a limited production. My gun shop owner says he hasn't seen one and didn't know they made 'em.

The 45 convertible has been on my mind though. Anyone have experience with it? If the hunter had an ACP cylinder, it might be the perfect choice for me - a 454 cylinder would be the icing on the cake, but won't be hapening.
