For sale or partial trade + cash:
This is a 1941 (I think) Winchester Model 70 in ".30 GOV'T '06" caliber. Serial number is in the 46,000 range. Sights are a hooded ramp front with hood and a factory-installed Lyman 48W in back.
Overall condition has got to be close to 98%, with VERY few dings, dents, scratches, etc. Worst spot on the rifle is a couple of small surface rust spots near the muzzle (see picture). The inside of the barrel is pristine...it may never have been fired, although I can't say for sure. I can say it has spent the last 40 years in a closet, and the guy who bought it 40 years ago never fired it.
It has never been drilled and tapped for modern scope bases, and still has the original metal butt plate.
The Blue Book of Gun Values has it at $1675 @ 95% and $1875 @ 98%. I personally think it's closer to 98% than 95%, but I'll go $1700 plus shipping. Here are the pics: That's not a flaw in the blue on the bolt - it's a reflection. Very sharp points on the checkering. Note the rust spots just below the front sight hood. Trade consideration will be given to side-by-side shotguns, 1911 .45 autos and very light and accurate deer/elk rifles in non-magnum calibers, although there must be some cash as part of the deal.
Thanks!

That is a beautiful rifle
I found a wizard and asked him if he can remove a curse I had been living with for the last 20 years. The Wizard says, "What were the exact words that were used to put the curse on you." I say without hesitation, "I now pronounce you man and wife."

Gorgeous.
I can't quite get past the hammers, though. I was thinking more of an SKB 100 or 200, a Simson or an AH Fox.
Thanks anyway, czech1022
