Great and welcome to the forum. Lots of Canadians on here.

I'm assuming it is a .300 but there are other possibilities.

Sorry, Boltman, I missed your question first time around. Yes, getting ready for the deer season opener in early November. Been away from hunting for a while but really looking forward to it.

I kind of lucked out on this one ... I shoot left so lever seemed like the way to go but didn't want the limitation of a tube magazine. This gun was advertised on a local board and the price was right. It looked good, felt right and I bought it.
Then started to do a little research so here I am.
Thanks all for the warm welcome and for sharing your experience.

And a big welcome to the board from me. By the way, I can't wait for Ron T. to weigh-in on your choice of deer rifle smile Needless to say, and this doesn't do him justice, he is a fan of the style rifle you have purchased smile

I wondered about the finish as well. Might just be the angle of photograph but it looks like satin nickel?

I don't know if it's satin nickel or just the case hardened finish. Lever is the same. Here are some more detailed pics if that would help [Linked Image] [Linked Image] [Linked Image]

The receiver wouldn't have been case hardened. Looks to me like it's shiny metal. Might just be worn that way or someone might have used some steel wool or something and shined it up.

And yes, welcome to the addiction wink

Welcome to the campfire!

Looks like somebody stripped the bluing from the receiver, probably to get it ready for a reblue and then never followed through. It's okay, those EG's still hunt just fine when they're gray. grin
