I'm looking at getting a scope for my 99EG and one I was considering is the Leupold VX-3 2.5-8. Has anyone had any problems with ring spacing with that scope. The scope will fit but I took some measurements and it doesn't look like there is much room fore and aft room to move the scope in the rings to adjust eye relief. I don't want to use extension rings or a one piece base.

I use this scope almost exclusively on all my rilfes. It's a great choice IMO.
There is a little room fore and aft, but not much. This hasn't been a problem for me though. The scope has plenty of eye relief.

Actually, I'm leaning toward the Leupold FX-II 6x. I know this goes against traditional wisdom but I find I almost always leave my variables on 5x or 6x and I never have any problem in getting on game, even in the extremely think terrain so common here in the Canadian Maritimes.

I would have taken less eye relief with mine if I could move it back further but its not a huge issue... with winter jacket on, and assuming the scope is not set to 9x, its not a problem.

Actually, the 6X is becoming the new 4X. Many folks that use fixed power scopes are finding that anything that they can pick up with a 4X they can pick up with a 6X.
