Me thinks explosives Culvert Cannon. It would be super cool! and, of course, not my problem to fix afterwards. Be sure to take video! I do have some extra odd end lots of blackpowder. One of these days...

The MN deer youth hunt started yesterday. Nate and I will be headed to camp this afternoon so he can hunt tonight and through the weekend.
is that a doe only season? or can Nate put the smack on Pam's buck? Here are the regs Ryan: Youths ages 10-15 are eligible to participate in a special deer season that runs from Thursday, Oct. 18, to Sunday, Oct. 21, in 28 permit areas of southeastern and northwestern Minnesota, plus the 601 area of the metro area, according to the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR).
School is out in many communities during this long weekend, said Mike Kurre, DNR mentoring program coordinator. The extended break is an ideal time to put aside your gun and plan a hunt with and for a youth.
Deer permit areas open to the hunt are 101, 105, 111, 114, 201, 203, 208, 209, 256, 257, 260, 263, 264, 267, 268, 338, 339, 341, 342, 343, 344, 345, 346, 347, 348, 349, 601 and 602 area in the Pine Island area.
Youth must meet all firearms safety requirements, purchase a license and use the appropriate firearm for the permit area in which they are hunting. Youth may take a deer of either sex. An adult mentor must accompany the youth but may not hunt or carry a firearm.
Public land is open as is private land, provided the youth hunter has landowner permission.
Participating in the youth deer season does not preclude the youth from participating in the regular firearms deer season, but any deer harvested do count against the youths season bag limit.

Best of luck to you guys. I don't doubt you will have fun, but a little freezer filling and wall decoration collecting would certainly add to it.

With the youth hunt under way we finished the first day we hunted with my daughter shooting her first doe! A great job and am very proud of her. She was in one stand w her mother and i had my oldest boy with me in another stand. We had seen lots of deer but were hoping the 3bucks would come closer. They stayed out past 500yards. Then a coyote came out and all deer left. The coyote never did leave. Just happened to lay down for good. 230 yards and lights out. Fun hunt so far will go back out tomorrow for another try.
It is a silly fish that is caught twice with the same bait!

made it out pheasant hunting today for the first time in over 14 years. a guy I've gotten to know well has 300+ acres he manages for birds. saw over 100 roosters today, had an amazing time with his group, all of them top notch and it was a perfect day. saw lots of deer, he asked me if I would help him with his "whitetail problem" as he called it, I told him I would with my bow and muzzle loader, he even thanked me! what an awesome day

Congrats to your daughter Buschy. No matter how many deer she takes in her lifetime, this will be the one she will always remember.
Heading back up North to tackle the culvert again Sunday.
