We had a fantastic day in the woods today. I'm too tired to tell all the stories but I popped a couple grouse, had 100's of trail cam pics, and we found two 1/2 racks off 10pt bucks. Both are nice sheds, but one dwarfs the other. A true MN monster buck.

Here is the only pic I got from my stand. A new stand and a new camera.

Second stop was much more interesting.

Two guys in Chickenbuck shirts out on the western plains.
This thread is over five years old and had has in excess of TEN MILLION hits and almost twenty thousand replies.
Shirts and hats are being ordered as we read this.
MANY friendships have been made here.
I saw it from the first in 2007 when I pm'ed Rick Bin to please sticky this.
Damnit Dave, this is marketable.I can see it now.The book, the blog, the (dare I say it?)the TV show.Better than "Duck Dynasty","Deadliest Catch" or "Pawn Stars".Dave and Pam quit their regular jobs and revel in the new found wealth.New (BIG POWERFUL)tracked toys.A vintage car collection to rival Jay Leno's.Each shows starts with "Preacher" pointing upward.
Think about it.The possibilities are there.

could be a book for sure, I'd buy a copy. interlace some of Dave's stories, and the ones Pam has to remind him of smile
Lord knows there are plenty of pictures to go along with it.

I'm not good at guessing weights on bears, but I know this is a bigger than average, especially for the public land it wanders.

There are only pictures of him/her on one night.

That camera is on what I thought was a deer trail, but it appears to be more of a "game trail" beacuse of all the animals that were on it.

Pretty cool, and the reason I now have 3 cameras instead of the one I had last year.

I don't know what you boys and girls are seeing in the woods, but there wasn't much at all for rut sign. I saw a scrape, which was there on the weekend of 10/6. I put my trail cam on the trail that is near the scrape.

We put miles on in the woods yesterday and found no other scrapes an 0 rubs.

We have some good signs around where we hunt. The locations are going to make stand placement decisions a little difficult.

I like me some Truff Cam turty fives!

I also have a 46 (See pics above). The quality of the picture on the 46 is much better imo, but the simplicity of the 35 can't be beat.

Noduck, that first pic is a hellova buck!

Love that first one especially.

The 46s are doing well for me. I'm having a great time with them.

My four year old son asked me today: "Daddy, when I'm a little bigger, can I go deer hunting with you? We could both catch a deer and I could have my own knife to make mine into food with you."

Me and the boy spent the youth hunt weekend out and about, but never saw a thing with hair on it,not even a squirrel. frown
Time to get ready for rifle season now, armed with the knowledge that the boy is an absolute fidget monster! Looks like I need to buy some sort of blind material to keep the boys movements concealed.

Take him!

I took my boy on an actual hunt last year. He was 6. He eats it up now.

He came to the camp when he was four but I thought he was too young to come on a hunt. I'll be taking him on the 3rd weekend for sure, possibly the second too.
