I've gota 300 grain mold for my 460, but am having trouble finding load data for reduced loads. Hoping for something around 1000 fps, and would love to use Unique (I've got plenty). But,I'm guess I'm just being "picky"!! Thanks in advance for any help! memtb
I'm going to add this as an edit. I know that this thinking "out of the box", but what are some thoughts as to using surplus(I have way too much)50 BMG powder for the above load. It works great in my 375 AI for fire-forming cases. It leaves some unburned powder in the bore, and a full case pushes a 270 gr. Horn. to only a little better than 1800 fps., but it's "scarey" accurate!!!! memtb

1000 fps in a 460 is underkill you can do that with a 45lc factory or reload. to each his own, I prefer to load mine like the cannon it is.KAAAA BOOOMMMM!!!!

horseshoer, While I'll readily admit it's desighned for Hi Performance.I'm just getting back into handgun hunting, and need to do a lot of shooting ( it's been over twenty years). When I was pretty serious about my handgun hunting I was running several thousand rounds through my 629 per year, most of which were light loads. I shot everything from paper to small game, carried the gun almost constantly and became pretty sufficient with it. I just found it very enjoyable to shoot "relaxed" loads. I've done the same thing with my rifles (shooting cast bullets), I run 285 grn. casts from my 375 AI at around 1400. It's a lot easier on my wallet and my shoulder than 270 grn. jackets at 2900+ memtb

If it were me, I'd start at 10.0 grains Unique and add more as needed to reach "around 1000 fps". Unique is pretty versatile in terms of case filling or lack of it, and 1000 fps shouldn't be a pressure problem at all in the bigger 45 case.

Klikitarik, Thanks! That's similar info I'd found since asking the question. memtb
