I have a post here about a buddy that think's he wants a .338. Well it looks like he'll be getting a 7mm instead. I found a 7mm in a stainless Howa. It's my understanding that Wheatherby make's their Vangaurd using a Howa action. I held it up to the Vangaurd and sure as sh*t it was the saMe action. Only difference was the bolt on the Vangaurd was fluted. Cost $359.00!!!! It sure seems like a nice rifle. Dose anyone have any knowledge or experience with the Howa? Any 7mm stories welcomed. Thank's CD

Same rifle, different cosmetics. They are nice rifles, I have had three different Howas, still have the .223 heavy barrel rat rifle. All three were great, I just got through the magnum thing and lost interest in the 7mm and the .270 wasn't necessary. The .223 is one of my favorite rifles, though, and has accounted for about a zillion prairie dogs, and it's going back for more, this spring.
You can roll a turd in peanuts, dip it in chocolate, and it still ain't no damn Baby Ruth.

Thank's CD You have it backwards.....Howa makes the Weatherbys not vice versa.....good rifles. Is it a 7mm Mauser or 7mm Mag? Really doesn't matter, both are good to go. Regards, Rick.
John Deere tractors and Sako rifles.....doesn't get any better.

sako, thank's for clearing that up. It's a 7mm mag. I just can't believe the price! I called another gun shop in town and they could get me the gun for $480. I found this one new in box for $359. Pretty good deal I think. CD

Wally World has the Weatherby Vanguard in most calibers with syn stocks for $398 Blue and $498 SS including Weatherby Mags and Winchester Short Mags. See the site. I have a Howa Syn SS in 22-250 and a wood stocked Weatherby Vanguard in .300 Weatherby. I like both. My next purchase will be a .257 Weatherby or a .325 WSM. Good luck.
