Oh lordy... yep, that does it. I'm retiring the old barrel cooker at the cabin. I'll bring out a better cooker from home, something to make it easier to do things like ribs, turkeys, chickens, roasts etc.

We can park it up on the new deck. That will be nice to be able to run out there with just a pair of socks on to tend the grill.

I'll keep the grate out of the old barrel grill so we can use it to cook over the fire ring if we want to.

[quote=Muffy]Gradually getting things packed in my rig. Lefsa, chocolate chex mix, and caramel bars made. Don't worry Tom, I will bake more for next weekend too. Any suggestions? laugh

I am headed to mom and dad's this aftenoon. Dad & I are going to shoot our rifles. I am just going to stay there tonight because the folks, Kenna, and I are headed to Chickenbuck in the morning after dad's radiation treatment. By the way, his last treatment is on the 8th, then more tests to see where we go from here. Good luck hunting everyone!!!![/quot

Or a little bit of real butter and a good plump, hot polsa. Found at every corner kiosk in Oslo.

But rolled around lutefisk and mashed potatoes - nothing better, ever, anywhere. this is killin' me.

You do need the herring!

Club crackers or ritz?

The club cracker is nice but if the herring is wet the cracker gets too soft.

The ritz is more robust and more of a general purpose cracker ya know?

I do like the ritz as a foundation for the heavier multi story creations such as the summer sausage, block cheese, spicy peper slice presentations.

I would have to concur on your assessment, but I do think it is necessary to mention that the soda cracker goes well with certain beverages than the Ritz.

While the Ritz is a definate beer cracker the soda cracker, and this is only my opinion, goes much better with a nice bourbon or scotch.

And I would opine that is the only time other than what is on sale that would dictate my decision of which one to use...
