Overall I think the Encore is great but the factory trigger is a mite heavy. The triggers can be adjusted though I haven't adjusted mine. To get the best trigger job, I would have a gunsmith competent in Encores do the job.

My Encore has become my favorite rifle, but not without a lttle tweaking. My trigger was OK at 3 lbs. from the factory but my buddies Encore trigger at 8 lbs. needed work. The only adjustment is an overtravel screw for the trigger. This was accomplished with the help of Mike Bellm at www.bellmtcs.com Also some rifles need a tighter hinge pin for best accuracy. All 3 of my barrels shoot great. .50 cal ML, .243, and .264 Win Mag.. My next barrel will be a big bore so I'm probably looking for a 45-70, something I've never owned, unless I change my mind. Thats the trouble with owning an Encore, you just keep seeing all these extra barrels you want!

Mike Bellm's forum is a great help for Encores and Contenders. Be careful though, you may become addicted to the T/C's and it is nearly as rough on the wallet as this site is!!

I love my Encore, it was great right out of the box, all three barrels I shoot are accurate & fun to shoot. I have to agree the Encore is an addiction of the highest order.

The encores seem to have fair triggers outa the box, but I'd recommend getting Mike Bellm's download on doing an encore trigger job. It's a pretty easy do it yourself guide and if you're a bit careful and follow the instructions accurately you can wind up with a fantastic trigger. Mike also offers lighter springs as well as increased weight hammer springs. I'd strongly recommend the stronger hammer spring as it will reduce your opportunity for misfires with the lighter triggers. I have a 6.5x284 custom setup from bullberry and it shoots lights out. Haven't played with that rig in a while, but I just have too many toys. The thompsons are a lot of fun. Good Luck

I use the Encore in the 15" .270win handgun configuration. The trigger breaks at a nice 2 lbs 10 oz. It came that way. Accuracy with factory ammo is nothing to laugh at.... Handloads are better.... It serves me well..... in fit, form and function......
