Good luck to all my fellow MN hunters and others taking to the field this weekend.
Another eve of a deer camp season is right here. Unscripted, unplanned, mother nature will do what she does and we will do what we do.
Stories? Yeah who knows what we can pry loose out of the memory vaults. Some will be very old stories heard for the first time for some listeners, some will be fresh stories, some will be repeat stories that the listeners know by heart but still bust a gut laughing anyways.
The food, it will be fantastic and inventive as usual, also very much unscripted, unplanned.
Pour us all into that shack with whatever we all bring and see what happens. What ends up on the stove, what ends up in the bbq? Who shoots a buck? Who shoots a doe? Who misses clean and gets the shame stick? Will the meat pole break? Damn I hope so.
I just love it, ya know?
Good luck everybody and be safe.
I'll file a progress report if I get a chance and if my little smart phone can reach the outside world from camp chickenbuck.

Have fun. I was out warming up the bucks behind my house this morning. I rattled in a 6 pt. I had no shot but would have let h him walk anyway. They are definitely moving. You will have fun.

Big snow blob on the radar, it's the size of the dakotas combined and it's sliding our way.
What color will the hunt be tomorrow?
I think white..... with brown hair.

Good luck to everyone and more importantly have fun and be safe!!
I was in the stand at 'O dark turdy dis morning. Once again not a deer spotted but about 8:20 I had a big prime coyote at 12 yards. Just as I was drawing my bow to lay the smack down on the fawn killer, he scooted behind some thick brush. I lip squeaked at him and he stopped but wouldn't come out from behind the brush. Dang! I really wanted that fuzzy hat!
With all this talk of the bucks running around, I'm going to go back out with my decoy and the rattle bag. Maybe that will bring me the luck that has escaped me so far. I hope. I was thinking though, on the walk out of the stand this morning, the fresh dug field that I cross is literally covered in coyote tracks. Could this be why I haven't seen a deer out of this stand?

+1. A true classic. Deer are difinitly on the move. We saw a a good dozen fresh road kills between Appleton and Stevens Point last night. The body shops are going to be real happy.
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. Except for bears. Bears kill you.

Good luck to all from the big woods near Isabella. It is 20 degrees outside and 60 in the tent. The latest deer cams show the bucks are moving, even a wolf or two. The hot spot is spotty here so no pictures but will post the hunt later.
PS Hope a wolf walks infront of the wife and she shoots strait.
