...ANYONE, who would butcher a gun like this. http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=314392255 I like Mag-Na-Port and have it on several of my guns including M83s in .41 Magnum and .475 Linebaugh.... They don't bother me at all muzzleblast wise but I have stood behind and timed shooters who have the holes drilled down the top of the barrel and the muzzle blast is UNBEARABLE.... Don't know what this Seller's reserve is but I wouldn't give him the $1200 as the first thing that would have to be done is a return trip to FA for a new barrel...put it out on a Penny Auction and it probably wouldn't bring a grand.... ps...the guy lists the custom porting as Mag-Na-Port...problem is Mag-Na-Port uses a patented trapezoidal port and if you look the ports under the sight base are rounded...also Mag-Na-Port would never drill holes down the middle of the barrel.
A dealer friend of mine currently has two Jack Weigland custom S&W revolvers with this same type of porting...

Hey, it's his gun, he can customize it any way he wants. But he shouldn't be surprised when he does so in an un-tasteful way, that few, it any share his perception of it's "value".
Now if you could get it cheap enough, one could re-barrel it easily enough, then try to sell the butchered barrel for whatever you can get.

Bob You can tell from the description that the seller doesn't know what he's got. It's also telling that the guy claims to mainly "let his relatives" shoot it.

Read slower...
The Seller didn't have the work done, he acquired the gun on a liquidation of a collector (he probably couldn't sell it either..he had to die to get away from it)
His "relatives" are not shooting the gun...he gives it to "relatively" experienced shooters....
The barrel is worth the price of scrap metal...

The barrel is worth the price of scrap metal... Huh? I could read it so slowly that it was going backwards but it wouldn't change what the guy said. I acquired this particular firearm at the liquidation of a collector in the 1990s and have fired it less than a dozen times (usually I let a relative experience shooting it!). I think that interpreting it the way you seem to be would be a stretch. The reason I said he doesn't know what he's got is due to my reading that he wasn't the first owner of the gun. I didn't disagree with anything you initially said.

I wrote the guy a note about "Mag-Na-Port" and got a nice note back saying he knew it wasn't Mag-Na-Port but just used the name as "generic" to porting...he has since changed the add to "Custom porting"...

Magnaport will place a port over the center of the barrel. I'm taking delivery of Gary Reeder's custom Grim Reaper in 500 SW around Christmas. There are 5 of the trapezoid ports; two on each side of the front sight, and one directly behind it in the center of the barrel.

That kind of porting made a minor (very, very minor) splash in IPSC about 20 years ago, and didn't make a ripple there, either. I forget who thought the whole silly idea up, but IPSC folks weren't buying it, then, either. Who knows, this may be hanging around from that era.............

Looks like something out of an old Rambo movie. He should try to peddle it in Hollywood.
