If the liberals get their way, the world will be just 1 big country in the end anyway.

Seriously for a change, I will stay here and rest the evil with all my strength until the day they stuff me into the fire.

You have 3 choices:

1) Another 1st world country - really, truly first world. And there's only a few. UK, France, Germany, Japan, Belgium, parts of Spain, Canada, and a few others.

The electricity runs 24/7, you have shops and restaurants open at night and with a good choice, you have safe areas - you have "things" that you take for granted.

But these countries taxation, socially liberal, and socialistic tendencies are worse than what you think you would be running from.

2) 2nd world country - South Africa, some Caribbean locations, perhaps Thailand, etc. The electricity goes off - often. In many places you have to drink bottled water. The stores sometimes have and sometimes don't have things you need/want. Simple things - bleach, detergents, washing machines ... don't exactly get you the results you are used to.

3) 3rd world - Caribbean nations, Latin America countries, etc. Argue all you want, but they are 3rd world **** holes when you get off the Club Med compound. Electricity is a crap shoot. Have heart burn at 11pm? Have fun .... Get a pain in your right side .... pray it isn't appendicitis.

Of course, you can go to an "ex-pat" retiree compound and live the life of luxury. But it isn't.

Not after you settle in. Your "new" house has a problem with electricity burning out bulbs ... live with it. The "public" water pressure goes down during the heavy season ..... get used to bailing pool water with a bucket to replenish your toilet bowl so you can flush your turd down ....

Those nice people in the local town who you think are your friends?? Wait until one day a local throws themselves in front of your car outside a shop, and you slam on your brakes and barely bump them. Then the local police come ..... they don't have courts, police, lawyers, and the system you are used to .... you will reach into your pocket and pull out some green to pay them off, and you will have that on you because you will have witnessed another ex-pat get hauled off to the local jail and kept their 2 days until his wife brought the cash in!

People have no ****ing comprehension what it is like living outside the US, and the value of the freedoms, protections, rights, and services we have.

You go to another country to live, in essence you are there as an invited, tolerated guests that last as long as they wish, and to what extent their tolerance goes ... depending on who you may piss off, who is related to whom, and how much you are willing to bow your head in submission ....

Spot on.

I have fought and scratched for 25 years to create a business that now employs 102 people. It is construction and we have just come through the toughest recession yet and profits are marginal. Obamacare will push us into the loss column IF I keep everyone.

My point is that we have survived 3 recessions and now the biggest threat to our future is our OWN GOVERNMENT! I am a fighter but with 16,000 new IRS agents and tax rates certain to increase I don't have the will to fight the gov't that should is standing in the way of our growth. If the gov't would just leave us alone I would buy new trucks and hire more people.

Well said and spot on. I and others would love to find the un****** America but it doesn't really exist. I love VA but it has been overrun with liberals. Visited Austin last month fo a football game and loved it. Maybe ther is room there more disenfranchised conservatives?

I have no place to go, just scatter my ashes or let me lay, today, tomorrow, whenever... the time or circumstance makes no difference... the place does though.

Gentlemen;
Good evening to both of my cyber friends - I'll dispense with my usual pleasantries in deference to your results last night.

All I can say there is that sometimes God's answer to my prayers seems to be "No".

Anyway Scott, you'd like it better down here closer to us as they get winter in Vernon. At least in the old days until this "global warming" kicked in we used to have very mild ones.

Ironbender, the hat and gloves are working out well for the girls and I this hunting season, so thanks again.

All the best to both of you and your families gentlemen.

Dwayne

Excellent post. Those who've been around the blue marble some often have the greatest appreciation for what we have here. The grass may *seem* greener, but is often nothing more than a mirage. Count me as one who isn't going anywhere.

Dwayne my friend, if I were to move to Canada you would be helping me find a place to live. Your part of the world appeals to me more than most any other I have seen. But I will stay and fight, it is not in me to quit or run.

I'll stay here too. Thought of moving to Canada. Safariman area. Maybe we can go fishin. I can go back to the states too if I want. Wisconsin is looking up a bit though and the states picked up a few more gop governors . Sadly, America will have a much different face in 4 years but God is in control.

Scott;
Of course I know this about you and that is just one of the reasons I respect you.

As you know about us, we travel into your country a fair bit and I still believe that it absolutely is worth fighting for as there are many facets of the US that don't exist for us here.

Anyway my friend, as always you and your family are in my daily thoughts and prayers.

Dwayne
