Well da oldest der he crumpled a doe on Monday night, but both da boys had to learn a lesson about hunting. We have been watching a huge deer all summer, 15 points, and a massive body. Well the gents across da road der dey shot it about 300 yards from the boys stand on the trail that leads right to them. They were a bit bummed out but like i told them it's hunting not killing and they have three more nice bucks that come into our area. Now I'm fighting a nasty sinus cold but wanted to tell all those still going good luck, shoot straight, and keep da beer cold ya yewbetcha

good luck Ryan, I cant wait to see that buck!
Accomplished my goal last night. I have officially brought all 3 of my kids goose, duck, pheasant, and deer hunting! They love it and I sure do enjoy bringing them (most of the time!). They are twin 4 year old boys and an 8 yr old girl.

I hope this weekend is cold, blustery and all out nasty. I love hunting in that weather! I'm pumped! Good luck everyone!
Anybody get a text from Ryan yet? Did he find his buck?

The weekend is supposed to be nice. But of course its one more week into the rut and the bucks may be moving around a bit more than they did the first weekend.

That's rough all around BD, sounds like you are doing a great job with the boys. Pick up some "emergen-C" packets and pour them into water bottles, pound em steady, morning to night.
Something clever here.

Yeah. Contrary to what Waylon told me years ago, massive amounts of Windsor Cokes do NOT kill a bad cold. You just wake up with a bad cold and a bad hangover.

You're doing great with the kids BN and BD. We need all the young hunters we can get.
We may have a 10 year old in camp with us for the first couple of days. Sure will be great to have some young blood around.
50's here for the weekend and thunder storms on Sunday. Supposed to drop into the 30's for Monday/Tuesday.

Yeah last night I took them over to a friend who got a three point, helped him hang and skin it.
Had an impromptu lesson on knots, pulleys, knives etc.
Boys asked why they didn't teach them that stuff in school....

sad news, lost the trail and after many hours of looking I had to give up, I searched a huge valley, over 2 ridges and the bottom of a steep ravine. no idea what happened to him. first deer I've lost in 15 years. pretty bummed out. gonna punch my tag and call it an archery season

oh man, sorry to hear that. go back in a day or two and look for crows, might as well go see him and recover the rack. I have heard of some guys doing this, not for the trophy part, but rather to stick that in your garage and every time you see it, you will be reminded to make sure you have a good shot. Not saying you didnt this time by any means, but 5 years from now it will be a good reminder.
