not interested in moving unless everyone else gives up on fighting...everywhere else has their own sets of problems and at the moment i prefer our set of problems cause there is still hope in alot of areas...

that said if chit really went down hill and no one else was interested in fighting, if i have to live under stupid gun laws i would prolly prefer to live under stupid gun laws in Australia where i can hunt big game 365 in decent weather....

water buffalo, bantang(wild ox from Java), scrub bulls(feral cattle), brumbies(feral horse), camels, goats, pigs, 6 species of deer(though some do have a season in some areas) and all are feral and for the most part open for hunting year round....

Ive considered moving to the UK at times and would consider it if the job situation ever worked itself out. But this has nothing to do with the election. Even with Obama we still have it WAY better than 99.9% of the world.

as a kid fascinated with hunting and reptiles it was my dream to.....still the number 1 country i want to visit and explore but as an adult looking at it, they have their own problems and as chitty as this election went there is still alot of avenues for hope here yet and im not interested in uprooting and leaving....especially given the state i live in.....but if chit went down the crapper alot farther than it is now and like minded folks decided they were no longer gonna fight for change then yeah i would consider it.....still planning on figuring out how to get down there and doing some hunting and exploring for a vacation though...

I can see the conundrum for conservatives. If they move to just about any other country on earth - odds are it will be more liberal than America.

Odds are any other country will have a public health-care system, and it will probably spend more tax-payer dollars on it's public education system - and it will probably have all kinds of social safety nets - for those who are struggling financially.

After reading about, and thinking about, the replies so far - I think I may just have the answer.

Tea Party types - might love Somalia.

Think about it.

Somalia has a very weak central government. It has strong 2nd Amendment rights. And - it is very conservative socially.

It would be a perfect fit.

If nobody has said Costa Rica yet, then you don't know what you're missing. Good food, good climate, they like Americans, and you can live like a king for not a lot of dough. Spent two weeks there and swore I would winter there if the good Lord lets me get to retirement.

I have lived in Morocco (27 months) & Saudi Arabia (33 months), & have traveled to India for extended periods of time. On top of that I have probably been to 25 other countries.

I love this country but to be honest it is like someone I love dearly and would take a bullet for being a crack addict & refusing to get help. What point do you say enough is enough?

Were I ever to leave this country it would be to Alaska if they secede or to Australia. I have family there that I am close to. Brazil might be another contender

You have 3 choices:

1) Another 1st world country - really, truly first world. And there's only a few. UK, France, Germany, Japan, Belgium, parts of Spain, Canada, and a few others.

The electricity runs 24/7, you have shops and restaurants open at night and with a good choice, you have safe areas - you have "things" that you take for granted.

But these countries taxation, socially liberal, and socialistic tendencies are worse than what you think you would be running from.

2) 2nd world country - South Africa, some Caribbean locations, perhaps Thailand, etc. The electricity goes off - often. In many places you have to drink bottled water. The stores sometimes have and sometimes don't have things you need/want. Simple things - bleach, detergents, washing machines ... don't exactly get you the results you are used to.

3) 3rd world - Caribbean nations, Latin America countries, etc. Argue all you want, but they are 3rd world **** holes when you get off the Club Med compound. Electricity is a crap shoot. Have heart burn at 11pm? Have fun .... Get a pain in your right side .... pray it isn't appendicitis.

Of course, you can go to an "ex-pat" retiree compound and live the life of luxury. But it isn't.

Not after you settle in. Your "new" house has a problem with electricity burning out bulbs ... live with it. The "public" water pressure goes down during the heavy season ..... get used to bailing pool water with a bucket to replenish your toilet bowl so you can flush your turd down ....

Those nice people in the local town who you think are your friends?? Wait until one day a local throws themselves in front of your car outside a shop, and you slam on your brakes and barely bump them. Then the local police come ..... they don't have courts, police, lawyers, and the system you are used to .... you will reach into your pocket and pull out some green to pay them off, and you will have that on you because you will have witnessed another ex-pat get hauled off to the local jail and kept their 2 days until his wife brought the cash in!

People have no ****ing comprehension what it is like living outside the US, and the value of the freedoms, protections, rights, and services we have.

You go to another country to live, in essence you are there as an invited, tolerated guests that last as long as they wish, and to what extent their tolerance goes ... depending on who you may piss off, who is related to whom, and how much you are willing to bow your head in submission ....

Yep.

Have an employee who lives there. It's OK, but a lot of inconveniences. Not quite third world, but close.

I don't think a two week vacation in a tourist area qualifies as an evaluation.

I just retired - staying in NY State!
Been here 73 years.
Have a few hurdles here but the fight is really challenging and exhilarating .

Sign me up with the patriots who will stay and fight rather than joining the cut and run bunch.

Loving it here.

Jim
