Some good info here. I had a chance to look at a model 16 yesterday, not a 250 though, and was not overly impressed with the finish. My dad has one and it is really nice. Maybe I just say a dud. I am still going to keep looking for one I think. I shot my 257 Roberts Ruger Mark II Ultralight today and had a blast. The 25's sure are fun to shoot. I am going to try my dads 243 tomorrow just out of curiosity.

It's been fun discussing this with you and I agree that results at normal hunting ranges on game {well, deer at least} would be indistinguishable between the .243 and .250. I still wouldn't go out of my way to hunt up/build a .250 when .243's are so much more available in a wide variety of rifles. Besides, my father raised me to be practical and I already have a very accurate .243 along with a lifetime supply of ammo and components for same.

I'd like to see Remington chamber their M7 in 250 and a Montana in .250 would be irresistable.

Yes on the Montana. Wouldn't that be like the 250 NULA mentioned earlier to carry? Sweet.

Yeah, it's pretty obvious too. Oh now, that's not very nice. Somebody needs a nap.

My son has killed 3 deer in 3 years with 3 bullets from a 16 1/4" 250 Savage T/C Encore. His 13th Birthday was 2 weeks ago. I like the 250 so much I made a trade with another forum member here for another 250 Savage barrel.
I'll tell you what I like about it over the 243. And please, this is just my opinion, if you like your 243's then shoot the heck out of them and pay no attention to me. But, I like the fact that it's a lower pressure round. I don't generally feel the need to run the throttles to the stops when reloading anyway, but to me there's just something about this gentle cartridge with so much history that just says slow down a little, take it easy.
BTW, my load for the 250 is a nowhere near max amount of H380 and a 100 gr Ballistic Tip. They behave well at muzzle velocities below 2500 fps

Ken I'm gonna be needing one of those. my take on .243 vs. .250 sav is that I have both of them and enjoy shooting both of them quite a bit.

Will it be a birch stock? Scott didn't say anything about the stock but I'm thinking it will be a Curly Maple since it will be an Aniversary Model. Special run of 250 rifles and I don't think they'll use a synthetic stock. My Aniversary Model 7 222 Rem was a curly maple. They built 222 of them. Really hope Scott makes this happen. I told him already to put my name at the top of the list. Ken

A model 7 in a 250; how sweet is that? I have a Savage 14 in 250 but if a 7 comes along I'll grab it.

I chose the 26" sporter length which balances the rifle extremely well. Doc

You guys hankering after a .250-3000 better get one soon because next year the .25-35 will be the cool thing to have.
