So I've contacted Leupold about the 42 mm Alumina cover and they forwarded to me the model number of the objective cover I would like to own and ignored the question I posed to them. "Is the 42mm objective cover in (or going to be in) production?" As this is the only American forum of which I am a member, I ask, "Is this cover out there?" The Canadian distributor indicates that it is "out of production" and available "late 2013". I've not been able to source one anywhere. Anybody out there share my "pain"?

42mm Alumina's are not available yet. Late 2013 is what I've heard also.

Assuming you're looking at these for a VX-6, check the thread dia and pitch (call Leupold if you have to) of the objective. It might be that the new aluminum flip-ups from Swarovski MIGHT fit. IIRC, Swarovski uses a M44 x .75 thread for their thread in 42mm scopes. I know, it's a shot in the dark.

I've been trying to get a set for my VX6 2-12 since I got the scope back in June. You would think that they would make a set for their top of the line scope but they don't. It would be easy enough to put a Butler Creek cap on the front but the clearence on the rear is to tight to the bolt handle for a cover that goes over the eye piece.
