So I was getting ready to mount a Minox ZA3 3-9x40 on my Weatherby Back Country. I'm playing musical chairs with some scopes. This one had come off a Browning A Bolt .30-06. I bought the scope earlier this year for my dad to replace his old Nikon. He used the new Minox on an antelope hunt, where he took a beautiful buck with one shot at a lasered 317 yards.
I noticed the ocular piece had rotated, like the Leupold is designed to do, in order to focus the reticle. The Minox, however, focuses the reticle from the end of the ocular, like a binocular. That's funny, said I to myself. I didn't think they did that.
Another thing I'm pretty sure they're not supposed to do is unscrew (with ease) to the point that the ocular piece leaves the tube. So now I have a 2-piece scope. The bonus, though, is I now know what the inside of a scope looks like. Crosshairs are cool.
She's going back to Minox Monday.
Is that weird, or what?

Had 3 Minox scopes, optically they are fine but mechanically not so much so. Sent a couple back to to Doug and had good service from CL but I would put my $$$ elsewhere.

I bought one, the glass seemed pretty nice and bright, but the windage/elevation adjustments were spongey and had play in them. Sent it back too and moved on.

I spoke with Minox recently regarding my ZA-5 1.5-8. I was thinking of putting one on my 458 WM. They said it should handle the recoil. Their CS was very friendly and answered my questions. No complaints at this point.

Does anyone have a minox w/the xr-bdc reticle. I was gonna order one but checked their specs on placement of the hashmarks and they don't make any sense per ballistics charts for any flightpath of a normal bullet.

I emailed Minox and gt a PROMPT reply. They apologized for the failure and told me where to send the scope.
We'll see what they do with it, repair or replace. I can't say my confidence level is as high as it was before, but I also had to send in a Leupold recently.
Stuff happens.

Like I said, stuff happens. There's a Leupold at the factory right now getting fixed. Doesn't mean I won't buy another. Buy hey, it's your money. I might be singing another tune if the second one fails. We'll see. P
