Well folks, it took me a bit to put this together, and thought I owed my many friends here an explanation as to my lack of involvement at the 'Fire of late.

I recently invited 3-4 folks over to my small board via PM on the 24hourcampfire. Rick saw that I did and took great umbrage at my doing so and called it a breach of trust and suggested that since I had been a Peace Officer I should know better. I must accept his point of view, I do not sell anything nor take advertisements and actually plug his site, store and auctions at my place, but, 24hourcampfire is his patch and I hold no ill will towards him and will keep the plugs for his site up on mine.

I was not attempting to steal his livelihood or posters, just let a few know I had the place. I simply don't feel that I should keep posting at the 24hourcampfire and using his bandwidth since he feels that way.

Thanks for the good times Rick and all, you still have the best site on the net.

Best regards,
Terry

24hour without TLEE...?

Doesn't even bear thinking about. Please reconsider.

I'll miss your corny jokes and sage advice. Unless of course you'll JUST NOT GO.

Don't go away mad ...

... Don't go away at all!

At least let us all hear from you from time to time unless and until Rick kicks you off.

No reason to go away as I see it, so long as you refrain from mentioning your site over here. I have missed you as well.

I sure haven't messed with the membership privileges.

In fact, I asked him to keep me from "having to deal with this unseemly and distasteful situation any further," a request which must have escaped the radar.

I wasn't real happy with, "Gee, I don't see anything wrong with using your PM system to invite people to my new board, but if you think I did something wrong, then I apologize."

I was hoping for, "Dude, I messed up. I get it. It won't happen again. I'm sorry." That's what I expected from a retired LEO.

And that would have ended it in my book. Nothing public required.

But now, deal with it publicly I must, so to be clear:

PMs on the sly inviting the recipient "and anyone you trust" to your website is something you've been around here long enough to KNOW is uncool. So did the person to whom you sent one, who forwarded it to me. Otherwise, I may have never found out. It doesn't matter whether you PM'ed 5 people or 500. Breach of trust is breach of trust.

And you know better.

Let me ask one question: If someone hadn't sent me that PM and made me aware of what you were doing, how many people WOULD you have PM'ed? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

You haven't been banned, nor did anyone but you make this public. A man-up apology had been the only thing pending.

Rick

I have a forum for homesteaders and have no problem with putting links on it for competitive forums. We offer a few things that the others don't, they offer things that I don't like or want.......To me it is like having two or three stores in town. I like the tupperware kind of stuff at Wal-mart, but I get my tools from snapon, Oil and oil filters I get at Wal-mart, but I get bearings and pads from Auto Zone........and my trailer stuff rom either Atwoods, TSC, or the Co-op.......competition is a good thing, and just because a person is active on one forum doesn't mean he isn't active on another one.....and one doesn't take away from the other. BTW Mr Lee, I checked your profile and got your website address.....nice site.....phpbbs is a good program and pretty cheap.....and there are lots of cool hacks available for it.

Me visiting there doesn't hurt your forum any more than me going to www.todayshomestead.com or www.appraisersforum.com or www.brokersoutpost.com or any of the other half dozen forums I drop in to from time to time.

And with that, I think I'm going to cash in a credit and nip this thing in the bud. If the plain logic of why you won't find a Ford banner in a Chevy dealer escapes some, then nothing I can add is likely to change their mind.

This one's done boys.
