I have a Miroku Winchester 1895 in 30-06 that is unfired. I bought it used about a year ago and still haven't shot it. Do any of you now how to date these rifles? I'd like to know when it was made. I guess I need to get out and shoot it and see how it preforms. It looks like a well made rifle. The fit and finish is great. Thanks for any info you can provide... Tomcatt

Go to the Browning website and look up the code they use to date Japanese A5's and Citori's. I have hunch since the Miroku factory made all three, the code might be the same for the year of manufacture.

I suspect that you have another 20 or so years to go until it appreciates much.

Did you find out yet? The two alphabetical letters in the serial # are for the yr of manufacture. Z=1, Y=2, X=3, W=4,V=5, T=6, R=7, P=8, N=9, and M=0. I tried this out on my Browning 1895 and it shows 84. The Browning run of 1895's were all made in 1984 I think. The code also works for my New Win 1886 Extra Light .45-70. It shows 10 for this 2010 Miroku 1886 rifle run. Jack
