There have been a few rumors wandering around:
.Federal will come out with a .458 Lott load? .Speer is dropping the African Gand Slam in favor of a TBBC-solid?
I suspect some of these -- and other surprises -- are being held for the shot-show in Feb, but I wonder if anybody can comment (or add to the mystery)? Also, anyone else hear of other rumors about cartridge lineups?

Well, to answer one of my own questions:
Federal has let their cat out of the bag concerning .458 Lott loads: 500 gr TBBC and 500 gr TB Sledgehammer.
Another shocker: Winchester
OK -- any comments after announce?

As for Winchester, I can not believe that the Model 70 will not be resurected under the Winchester name. FN may choose to produce it overseas, or Olin might license the name to another company. Several copies of the Model 70 have come forth in the past years (Kimber, Montana Rifleman, etc.) and I can just not accept that the Model 70 under the Winchester banner is dead - let's just hope it's sleeping for a short while.

1. Remingtom Mausers from Eastern Europe, definitely something new! Zastava Remingtons2. Winchester was a BIG shock. But then after seeing the lack of quality on current produstion models it is easy to understand why.

According to that news announcement it looks like Rem will be paying $133.33 per rifle if my math is correct.

It appears from the story that Zastava will continue producing the Chuck Daly line of Mausers in addition to the deal with Remington. For anyone that don't know these were the Mark X's under Interarms.

The Remington introduction of a commercial M98 Mauser is very interesting, because it has the potential of bringing us more reliable hunting rifles. Of course, better rifles are what we need, but the makers have been giving us the same rifles in different calibers and cartridges.
The Remington introduction should get the attention of the Winchester workers and their union if nothing else.
I am looking forward to comparing the Interarms Mark X, Charles Daly and Remington M798 versions: all were made by Zastava to the same basic design.

If Remington plays this M98 thing right, it's going to make it less attractive for anyone to bring back Winchester. Now it seems that Sako too is planning to offer a CRF rifle. Add Ruger, who has been there all along and it's tough to argue that you're offering anything all that special by bringing the M70 back. Nostalgia won't carry sales for very long.
Still, I remember how I felt when Savage discontinued the model 99--even though that rifle was only a shell of its former self by the end.

Not a rumor:
Leica 15x56 with an integral rangefinder.
On my list of must-sees at SHOT.

OK... here's one.
Midway no longer supplies Winchester 270 gr or 300 gr 375H&H failsafes. Winchester indicates (private communication) they are discontinuing the 375H&H failsafes, but have enough on hand for 1.5 yrs. Given the lead story on the site, it looks like Win may be about to announce an SP3 in the caliber?
