Sam, that's a great "before" picture. Too bad there ain't no "after" shot.
The Mayans had it right. If youre going to predict the future, its best to aim far beyond your life expectancy, lest you wind up red-faced in a bunker overstocked with Spam and ammo.

This spike I shot across a canyon in 2010 had his headgear so tangled up in this Alder thicket it took me a half hour to get him untangled enough to start to turn him over to cut him up. It's hard to see in the pics, but it was so steep my son was standing less than a full step behind and above the elk when he took the pic. If it wasn't for the alder thicket, he would have rolled all the way to the bottom of the canyon. [img:center] [/img]

Only elk I've ever killed......taken on a special draw hunt on the Wichita Mts. National Wildlife Refuge in SW Oklahoma. Bow killed buck......dogs/coyotes got to it before I did and pulled a bit of hair off the butt.

Some really nice pictures here, great hunts, great memories. Things we might forget without the pics.

No doubt I had many forces working (long story). The photo shows the arrow as it was working its way out. It actually was buried past the knock and hit several vital organs. He expired nearly immediately. Which vitals?
