I'm thinking of a christmas present for my five year old. He's not getting any tascos, or any leicas for that matter. I'm want something fairly compact, but with enough exit pupil to be useful. Around $100 would be okay with me.

I'm looking pretty hard at the Leupold Yosemites. Any ideas?

Our family has 4 pair of the Leupold Yosemite 6x30. We love them.
Cabelas has the new style for 69.99 right now

My girls have the pink ones, also 69.99: http://www.cdnninvestments.com/leyo6xpicabi.html

I just received a pair of the 6x30 Yosemite's. I am VERY impressed by them, especially for the sale price I got them for.

Ditto the 6x30 Yosemite's; have (4) sets in family. $ for $, can't be beat IMO.

As an update about the Yosemite's: my 4 year-old was having a ball today with them. He had an easy time looking through them, as they did adjust really close together, and they were not too heavy or large for his little-hands to hold.
