Danm but that's a great set of images. smile

Have you swept the visioned valley with the green stream streaking though it?
Searched the vastness for a something you have lost?
Have you strung your soul to silence? Then for God's sake go and do it
Hear the challenge, learn the lesson, pay the cost

I get most of my books from half.com. If you don't mind reading a used book, the website provides great value. Something of Value, Uhuru, Horn of the Hunter, and Use Enough Gun are all outstanding Robert Ruark books I got from them at a reasonable price.

i mentioned this book earlier, i paid $100 for my softcover edition....it was written in the 70's a few years before Kenya closed but covers hunting on the entire continent at that time.....even has stories on hunting okapi, gorilla, giant sable and walia ibex.....hard cover editions usually go for more than i paid and the book is worth every penny of the $100 i paid for mine....lots of photos, lots of good hunting stories.....

Here's a recommendation for you:

Lion In The Morning by Henry Seaton.

Although not a hunting book it does have some mention of hunting in it. The book is about the life, times, travels & troubles of a young British graduate who signed up in about 1910 as a civil servant in British East Africa (later Kenya) and goes a long way to help us understand why & how things were for the early settlers.

The book is written with typical British understatement & gentle humour.

We don't have it on our site yet but will try to get it on there but wherever you buy it from, I HIGHLY recommend it. smile

My favorite Africa book is "Scouting on Two Continents" by Frederick Russell Burnham. More of a "man" hunting book than animal hunting book.
Burnham was involved in the losing side of a range war in Arizona and had some Apache adventures. Then went to Rhodesia where he fought in both Matabele wars. In the second one, he was with Lord Baden-Powell who used him largely as the inspiration for the Boy Scouts.
Mining was his main living throughout his life. Went to the Klondike where he recieved a request from Lord Roberts to serve as his Chief of Scouts in the Boer War.
Anyway, awesome book and awesome adventures by someone who appeared to be everywhere.
