I know I will have to shoot the individual gun to know for sure but I gotta ask.

My .280 wouldn't shoot Ballistic Tips. Id love to shoot Accubonds. Anybody find that if a rifle liked Ballistic Tips it likes Accubonds too, or liked one and didn't like the other?

My gut feeling would be that if your 280 wont shoot BTs then its not gong to shoot anything else much better. They are that good in the accuracy department.

.280Rem ... if it won't shoot the BTips, try the Hornady Interbonds before the Accubonds ... basically the same bullet, but cheaper ... at least that way, if they don't shoot, you will have spent a bit less money on the boolits ... If they do, you have a cheaper load that's (IMHO) just as good from a performance standpoint ...

.280, I was in your shoes with a 270. I couldn't get it to shoot Nosler Ballistic Tips worth a darn. On a whim, I loaded up some 140 gr accubonds and it loved them. The smallest group I got was .36". Needless to say I was glad I tried them.

Not always. My 25-06 does not like 100 gr. Ballistic Tips but it will shoot 100 grain Sierra's into one hole groups.

I found the 284 140 grain Ballistic Tip and Accua Bond require re-setting my seating die. The two do not have the same ogive dimensions I would guess. I was hoping they might produce loads that would shoot to the same POI. They might, but I have not found it yet....

Maybe not quite as inexpensive, but maybe throw some Sciroccos down the bore. I have had very good accuracy in several rifles with them. They seem to hit hard also, a couple of one shot kills.

280,
Have you scrubbed ALL traces of jacket fouling from the bore prior to shooting the Noslers? I've heard that Noslers copper foul quickly if a different brand of copper is already in the bore. Haven't personally confirmed it, but FWIW.

Once in a while a bullet that shoots well in every other gun will not shoot in a certain one. Then you go back and try it again and it shoots quite well. This means that something else was changed in the testing.

I always check my action screws on non pillar bedding before going to the range for instance.

I would try the BT's again before giving up on wanting Accubonds. I find that they shoot the same by the way and with the same seating die setting as well.

I have never owned a rifle or loaded for others that would not shoot Ballistic Tips accurately. Seriously. Maybe you need to sell that 280 to me. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smirk.gif" alt="" />

My gut feelings are two. First of all, you are talking about some very well made bullets with solid reputations for being very accurate.
Based on what I've read of your posts, my guess is that you have not played with the BT's enough to find an accurate load for your rifle. BT's, for instance, often run pressures up a bit compared to, say Hornadys. Usually the most accurate loads are not the hottest, etc.
Rifles with barrels that are .32 inches larger than the bore usually shoot many loads well. The slimmer the bore from this, the fewer loads they will shoot well. You just have to keep changing powder charges and powder types until you find what you like.
If you want to try Accubonds, go for it. But I suggest you not give up on them until you find what shoots well. It may happen right off the bat, but it may not. You have an accurate rifle. That's the main thing. E

To date I have not found a rifle that did not like either one. These bullets are so good and so accurate that I would be inclined to get rid a a rifle that would not shoot them. Life is just too short to fool with a rifle that is going to be that difficult.

jbd,

So you'd reccomend I rid myslef of a rifle that wont shoot a particular bullet to sub MOA, but will shoot some to sub 1/2 MOA?

You dont subscribe to the rifle being an ididvidual do you? If nosler says they shoot, then they shoot in every gun right?
