First whitetail with the No. 1 #7155795 12/07/12

OP bullpup Campfire Greenhorn B Joined: Jan 2007 Posts: 82 Colorado	This is the first whitetail I've ever shot. Usually shoot mule deer but I got a whitetail only tag this year. Took two shots. He was running on the first shot and hit a little far back. Second shot was in the neck. The rifle is a .243 and I was shooting hand loaded 95gr Nosler ballistic tips. Love the gun and for my first white tail I'm pretty happy.

I notice you have extension rings on it... I wasn't aware that Ruger made ext rings in silver... I've only seen one other set and I have them... When I got the rifle I gave Ruger a call and they sent me a set of the stainless rings. If I remember correctly I sent them the ones that came with the rifle and they exchanged them for free. For grins here is the mulie I shot 2 years ago with the same rifle and load. Kind of makes the white tail look a little small.

I think the first deer I took with a single-shot I was in my late 30's. Nice memories. Mitch If there is any proof of a man in a hunt it is not whether he killed a deer but how he hunted it.

Now my single shot is my smoke pole. 100 gr of Pyrodex and a Shockwave, and I am good to go.
